Rebecca Knapp

Rebecca has been involved in film and television production for the past ten years, working across Europe, Africa, Canada and the USA. After graduating with an honours Law degree from Edinburgh University she produced her first short film entitled Smashing. She then went on to produce a series of shorts through her production company Synergen SMK for funders such as the UK Film Council, Film Four, the BBC, Scottish Media Group and Carlton Television. These have garnered between them three BAFTA nominations and twenty-four international film awards and feature such British talent as Kevin McKidd (Trainspotting, 16 Years of Alcohol & Rome), Laura Fraser (A Knight’s Tale & Casanova) and Tony Curran (Underworld 2, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen & Red Road). Rebecca has also worked as a line producer/production manager of television drama, documentaries and independent feature films. Most notably the feature films Solid Air (May Miles Thomas' follow up to her critically acclaimed One Life Stand), Frozen (starring Shirley Henderson (Bridget Jones Diary and Harry Potter), Roshan Seth (Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom and Ghandi) and Hidden Flaws (directed by Academy Award nominee Paula Van der Oest).

Recently with The Content Providers, Rebecca produced the teen comedy Popcorn, written and directed by Darren Paul Fisher (International Sales being handled by Moviehouse Entertainment), due for its UK theatrically release in March 2007. With Framework Entertainment Rebecca Associate Produced Britain's first Urban Black Gangster movie - Rollin with the Nines (theatrically released last year, winner of Best British Feature at this year's Raindance Film Festival, and nominated for a BAFTA 2007). She was also involved in several of their international co-productions. In 2005 Rebecca was appointed Director of Programming/Commercial Director of Rapture Television PLC a UK based entertainment satellite channel, which has recently also started broadcasting on broadband and celebrated its’ first broadcasting birthday.

Last year she set up the UK distribution company Spark Pictures with Daniel M. San, with the aims to distribute three to four titles over the next year but will double that output within its first three years. Rebecca is giving a series of lectures at Circus Media, the New Producers Alliance and Forward West. She has just returned from the Berlinale Co-Production Market, where her feature film project BRIGHT COLOURS, COLD SUNSHINE, was one of only two British projects officially selected. Most recently she has been accepted on the prestigious Inside Pictures course for Production Executives, run by Qwerty Films.
